During the month of July the philanthropic arm of Coupons.com will donate two meals for every three coupons used on CouponsforChange.org
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – July 9, 2013 – CouponsforChange.org, the philanthropic arm of Coupons.com, a leader in digital coupons, today announced that it will be kicking off its “Million Meal Challenge” to help reach its goal of securing one million meals to food-insecure families by August 1st. Through its partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief charity, Coupons for Change will now provide two meals for every three coupons clipped on the site, doubling its everyday contributions*.
“We believe that every child deserves a fair start in life and this is how we, as a company, can do our part,” said Michele Boal, founder of CouponsforChange.org. “The summer months are difficult for the millions of children in the United States who lose access to free meals for breakfast and lunch through regular school programs. Unfortunately, childhood hunger doesn’t take a summer break and by ensuring that kids are getting the necessary nutrients they need during the summer months, they can begin the school year feeling strong and ready to take on new challenges.”
“CouponsforChange.org was created to provide a simple way to empower others to give back,” Boal continued. “We recognize that people have time and resource constraints and by visiting CouponsforChange.org, consumers are not only able to get meaningful savings for their own families, but are also getting involved in a philanthropic cause – GIVING WHILE SAVING. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the “Million Meal Challenge,” which will provide even more meals for those who need them most.”
“We are delighted to have Coupons for Change as one of our partners in our mission to ensure that every child and adult has access to healthy food,” said Leah Ray, vice president of corporate partnerships, Feeding America. “Their unique way of empowering others to get involved in this mission has made it easier than ever for everyone to do their part.”
For the past year, CouponsforChange.org has joined in the fight against domestic hunger. More than 50 million Americans – including 17 million children – are struggling with hunger every year. As a mother and social entrepreneur, Boal is committed to putting an end to the difficult decisions too many parents are forced to make every day – paying a household bill or buying groceries for their family. Together we can give every child a fair start in life.
