At Quotient, giving back – a core part of what we’re about – often means getting filthy. This year, as we have done for the past three years, employees at our headquarters in Mountain View, California, spent a long and fulfilling day building a playground for a community sorely in need of a safe place for kids to play.
The site, in a community in the city of San Leandro, had been deemed unsafe, and the nearest alternative required neighborhood kids to cross a highway and, for many, travel a mile or more. So Quotient employees, working with the nonprofit KaBOOM!, split up into groups and went to work – hauling mulch, mixing concrete, assembling play structures, building plant holders, planting trees and more. In short order, fueled by team spirit and the joy that comes from such work, about 250 of us turned a practically bare lot into an environment any kid would love. And plenty kids are now doing just that.
At Quotient offices around the world, we work with organizations that support children at risk, trying to help more kids get a fair start in life. In fact, we encourage all employees to take three days off a year to volunteer with causes of their choice, and all of our offices hold similar giving days. For example, in October our office in Bangalore, India, renovated a public school in need of the basics. They helped build restrooms, install water fountains, and paint walls. In August, our Cincinnati, Ohio, office partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a family in need. They also regularly volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, cooking for families whose children are in nearby hospitals.
